YMCA Youth Advisory Council (YAC)

Our YMCA Youth Advisory Council (YAC) program runs annually for a period of 12-months. Young people aged 16 – 21 years who live, work or study in Manningham who have an interest in making a positive impact in their local community can apply to join our YAC program.

Our YAC members meet formally once a month and participate in a range of other leadership and community projects throughout their term as young leaders. This may include acting as a consultative ‘youth voice’ for Council projects, and participating in volunteer activities. Participants in the program receive training in various skills that include:

  • Effective communication skills;
  • Decision making;
  • Public speaking;
  • Conflict resolution;
  • Civic engagement;
  • Problem solving;
  • Working as a team;
    Amongst others.

Throughout their 12-month term, there are also loads of opportunities for fun team-building activities as well as being given the opportunity to attend YMCA Victoria’s "You Know Why" Leadership Camp.

WE WANT YOU!
