One on One Youth Support
YMCA Manningham Youth Services provides a free support service for young people aged 12-25 years old who live, work or study in the City of Manningham and feel that they could benefit from some one-on-one support. Our qualified Youth Workers will provide a tailored approach to supporting the young person, depending on their needs and the issues that they may be dealing with.
We are excited to announce our recent partnership with headspace Hawthorn, which will see YMCA Manningham and headspace work together, along with our community partners including Doncare, to provide a comprehensive support service for young people in Manningham. In 2018, in addition to the Youth Work support provided by YMCA Youth Services, young people will also be referred to headspace and Doncare for additional support where required.
Why do we offer Youth Support?
For many young people adolescence is an exciting time when they are discovering their independence and identity. As they grow and develop they can experience a multitude of social, emotional, physical and intellectual changes. This can be a challenging period for many, as they may be unsure of how to deal with or respond to certain issues.
Some of these issues may include the following: family conflict, housing, financial stress, mental health & wellbeing, engaging in education/work, disconnection from the community, problematic alcohol or drug use, sexuality & gender identity.
What is Youth Support?
Youth Support aims to empower young people to work through some of their challenges via short term (3-6 month), strengths based and goal orientated, individualized support. Our Youth Workers deliver a solution focused response. Engagement in this program will ensure a supportive environment which encourages the young person to develop strategies and sustainable solutions.
